Jewelry itself. I am not picky and I want to wear what he picks out. It's all in the thought. If I were a jewelry freak, maybe I would rather the gift certificate. Maybe just take her with you to pick it out, so it's still personal. Plan a date around it. Surprise her. end up in the store just browsing and when she sees something she really likes, just buy it. Or buy it the next day and surprise her. Be creative, man!

Jewelry! A gift certificate always says to me: "I don't know you well enough or listen to you enough to get you something that you'd like. So, go pick out your own gift because I can't be bothered."
You can always save your reciept and make sure they have a good return policy just in case.

Definitely the jewelry- Women want to see that their man took the time to pick something out. Gift certificates are everywhere and take no intelligence or caring to buy...

Neither! I am just a simple country gal...jewelry doesn't impress me. Now if you made me dinner, arranged for my ex to take the kids for the night...and we watched a movie or went for a sunset stroll...that would impress me. I would rather have the man's time and attention then jewelry anytime!

Gift Certificates are not to be given to your significant other. This signal that you are telling without saying a word is that you have no clue of your significant others taste. I would be offended and deeply hurt.
