I never got the belt, I got slapped a couple of times, but that's about as far (once there were some kicks, but that's when we were both fighting; meaning I fought back)... but they never hurt, many parents do it more to scare kids than to hurt them. Personally, I think that using the belt is going kind far... but it also depends on what you did? Some kids don't get punished either because their parents are against it or because they don't do anything bad. And many kids should be punished much harder than they are. I think that the punishment really depends on the situation (what you did?)

Like you, I got the belt too but this is just ONE of the many other ways and only I got it and not my sibblings! ouch! boohoohoo! I must'v been born a holy terrorist for my parents! Not a good way and I never used this method on my child - maybe because I'm a little better educated and less ignorant so found "better" ways to raise my own child.

I got the belt....I remember one time mom was so mad, she meant to whack me across the buttocks and hit my back..4 times in a row..I was a teen at the time so I raised my fist back. we are very close now and have gotten past that. I dont blame her because it was how she grew up and all she knew, coming from a family of 11 kids. I was on drugs and had false bravery.
Today, we are the best of friends and both feel very bad about what happened.

NEVER STRIKE A CHILD!! I got hit with opened handed slaps, belts, switches,cords and wire coat hangers. And If my Dad was really mad he would grab us by the back of the neck and bang our heads together. I rememver how bad all that hurt and didn't want my kids to go through that misery and pain.

I also got the belt - at the moment I didn't like it but I learned not to do "it" again

My parents were never home, so my older sister took responsibility of me. When I did wrong she would pound me with her fists.
Of course this is not the best way. My sister should not even had to have been acting as my parent.

I was first chained to a radiator. When I got older, I was locked in the closet. But I'm okay
