Who else has noticed that all the people who are afraid of snakes know nothing about them?

People say, they are slimy! or EEEWWWW gross! Won't they bite? But notice that these certain people know absolutely nothing about snakes. How about the fact that only amphibians are slimy and snakes are only slimy when they are born or hatched because of membranes? How is it that people these days have no respect for a snake's strength and beauty?

I respect people who are not fond of snakes but still respect them, as i have many friends like that.

Thank You! Most of these people have been to insecure to pick even a corn snake up! I have ana lbino motley corn snake and a red tailed boa and both are beautiful, well-tempered, and hardly slimey! In fact, i use my corn as a sort of stress reliever. He will entwine himself in my hair and give me a massage almost! Yess, sounds crazy, but he does! No joke! Snakes do soo mch good in the world! Come on guys, leave it to the past that the devil used a snake to betray Eve. Doesn't God always say to forgive?

well, it is not the most loveable creature on earth for sure. but some people have a fear about snakes, as you can never trust a snake even if you handle em every day and you've had it since it was a baby, for example you may let your lizards explore arround the house and come back but if you let your snake be free in the house you will lose it in less than 3 minutes forever! it's usually very hard to find a snake again

well personally i love snakes and i think that they are one of the most beautifull reptiles on the face of the earth. That's exactly what my mother says but a wile back i had bought a ball python but i had to give it to my uncle because my mother and my sisters did not like it and i had bought it without her permission and every time i try to watch a show about snakes they come in and turn of the t.v. They think that snakes will attack you for no reason at all but they don't know nothing about them.

I remember a piece once comparing snakes to birds and wondering why people like birds but not snakes.

Birds are noisy, snakes are quiet.

Birds bang into windows, sometimes breaking them. Snakes do not to this.

Birds hang around your house and drive your cat (and sometimes dog) insane. Snakes do not.

Birds crap on your car. Snakes do not.

Birds leave feathers all over. Snakes leave the occasional skin which disintegrates rapidly.

Birds carry contagious diseases. I am not aware of any disease you can get from snakes.

certain things like snakes, spiders, etc. cause a type of irrational fear in people the way heights and other things cause fear. snakes are not typically portrayed in movies as anything but creepy and slimy. there is also something about the way that they move that make some people feel uneasy.

I USED TO DETEST SNAKES THE WAY THEY MOVED JUST FREAKED ME OUT. THEN THE WORST THING HAPPENED MY BROTHER GOT A SNOW CORN AND I FOUND I WAS A LITTLE INTERESTED BUT STILL WOULDNT TOUCH IT THEN THE MORE TIME I SPENT IN HIS ROOM THE MORE I GOT USED TO IT.
THE GOOD NEWS IS I NOW HAVE A CAROLINA CORN SNAKE MYSELF AND I LOVE THE WAY IT CURLS AROUND MY NECK WHEN I WALK AROUND THE HOUSE.

Yes, I am TOTALLY afraid of them. Don't care if they are slimey, or not since I never plan to touch one. I also know less than a lot about them. Can't help it. Just find them creepy. I am sure they do a great service, but they can do it FAR away from me.

I do not kill them when I find them though. Live and let live!!!
