IrDA is like your remote control for your TV, except that it works bi-directionally. It can be used to between PC's and peripherals, such as monitors, PDA's and such. The problem is that it is directional and needs a clear line of sight to function.

Bluetooth is RF, with a number of different power levels defined, and can work up to abut 200' at maximum power. (Not all devices support high power)

Bluetooth can have some security problems. For example, if you have a bluetooth phone, and set it up wrong, someone close by with a PC or PDA that is bluetooth enabled might use your phone to connect to the Internet.

Totally different animal. IrDA is infrared light. The Bluetooth core system consists of an RF transceiver, baseband, and protocol stack.

bluetooth allows you to communicate with other device from a distance (about 10 feet) whereas Infrared (IrDA) devices should be kept in close proximity about less than a centimeter to each other, their IR ports facing each other.

Definitely not.
IrDA is infra red. You have to poin at certain angle and cloe to each other to get them connected.
Bluetooth is using radio wave, with certain maximum range.
