I recently got the top (cartilage) of my ear pierced, and I bumped it hard in my sleep last night, it hurt so bad it woke me up, but I managed to fall back asleep. I woke up this morning, and it was swollen - bad! And it still is. I know it's not infected, it's just bruised and badly swelled. What is the best way to get rid of the swelling? Do I just let it go away on it's own, or do I apply ice, I dunno!! Just help me if you can...Thanks a lot!

it's an open wound. it is going to swell when bumped. i hit mine on a steering wheel, it will be sore at least a day or so. just make sure you clean it very well to avoid infection, and try not to sleep on that side, or have the phone on that ear, blahblahblah. you'll be fine.

I had the SAME exact issue. okay, put ice on it, with a towel in between so you don't make the skin worse. i took advil for the pain, and clean it with H2O ocean which can be found at Hot Topic DONT USE SOAP! twist the piercing often with clean hands (peferably with a soaked cotton ball of the H2O) good luck, it worked for me...i hope it gets better.

Ice will reduce swelling. No heat it will make it worse. Try some Ibuprofen it is an anti inflammatory.
