The Blizzard downloader is notoriously slow, as it uses BitTorrent style file sharing to propagate, but it is intentionally slowed by Blizzard (to keep more people seeding the file). Anytime a new patch comes out, I like to hit File Front and download the patch there. Massively faster.

Blizzard 's updates have been kinda lengthy and large latley. Specialy with some of their seasonal ideas. Genraly it can take an hour or so on my friends DSL connection, weekly maintnence is also some thing that can take up time. Basically it takes aslong as your connection lets it. Just let it sit and you'll be fine.

Newbies at the game should know that you don't need to ask for free crap or money, the first ten levels are easy and you can save up plenty of money for items in no time.

I hope you have a lot of time on your hands. The game is very demanding of your time and gets you very addicted. It won't be easy to get off the computer, and will add up to a lot of money being spent on the monthly bill. PVP has nearly killed a man, and the game itself ended up with a baby's death! A couple went to an internet cafe to play the game and left their baby at home where she died.

Anyway, assuming you don't get addicted (which is very unlikely) try to cope with the community. It's not exactly the most mature out there, but don't stoop down to their level and try to stick with a crowd with half a brain. The game offers lots of freedom for making your character allowing you to cater to your preferred playing style easily.
