In Indiana, the School Uniform policy started in 2000. By this time, one of my sons was a Junior in High School, and the other was a Sophomore. Because both my sons are over 6ft tall,it was becoming expensive to buy school clothes for the both of them,(and) I was a single mother; not to mention the price for shoes for boys who wore sizes 10 and 11. With lunch money, book rental, athletic uniforms, (and so on),it took a lot of "double work shifts, and overtime at the job,to make it all work (but I did). It was a real blessing to me,that their High School started the Uniform Act. Now that I have 2 grandchildren in school,my kids save money on school clothes, and can use that money to buy everyday outfits for them, and extra little things they need (and want). Some people may not agree with this new policy of School Uniforms. My boys did'nt like it either, until they realized, that our family had extra cash on hand,to do special things with. To me,it was the best thing that happened in the school system.

Why are you against uniforms? You only have to wear them in school right? it's not like you have to wear them to the mall or movies or something, if you care about that.
Uniforms make a school calmer, actually. And the security is much better. If someone that didn't have the uniform walks in the school, the teachers/students etc. would know and point them out..
I think the only disadvantage is they're bloody expensive..

What is wrong with school uniforms? There is no peer pressure to wear smart clothes and the latest shoes. The school looks presentable with people wearing the same clothes.
