Aren't they worth even a wee section of their own? After all the great things they do and have done for women can't they also have a place for themselves on a supposedly equal forum such as this?
If I could I'd make a Men Appreciation section in here. Thank you men for being.....well........men!!!
Especially MY man!

Deirdre O, I'm sorry that you feel bound by the chains of oppression, you need to try to free yourself from that, unless of course you're waiting for a big strong man to do it for you. I am a woman and am not oppressed in any way. Saying 'women are oppressed' is very general, i think you meant to say many women feel oppressed. As for the health research, how did we discover that women are indeed different and present different symptoms and responses medically? It was either a man or one of those oppressed women you speak of who researched and discovered this. Please dont feel attacked, that is not the case, I'm stating my opinion as you did. Hope that clears it up for you.

Thank you all so much for these responses, unfortunately they proved what I already know to be true. I wanted to put this quote here because I think it can be applied to every answerer on this topic.
"Be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi.

Do You seriously think that We have not put forward the proposition on at least one other occasion? I put the idea up on a message board sometime ago, and am still awaiting an answer. I personally believe that the reason that We, as a substantial sector of the "Yahoo! population" have been over looked on this important issue is because "someone" may feel that there could be either a backlash from some elements of the audience, or the political correctness of giving "Men" a space of Our own (notice that I didn't say "Men's Room", "Men's Issues" or "Men's Forum") is out weighed by the need for some women to be able to actively engage in Their own pursuit of a political agenda. Information about men's health issues should be freely available, as it is now with women's health matters. Have You ever tried to do a search for a particular topic in the "Men's Health or Well being" Section in "Yahoo!"? Try doing a dedicated search for answers in the field of "heart attacks" or or any one of the major killers of Men, and see how You get on. Happy hunting. I have now doubt that there will be the usual plethora of snide "anti- male " humorous quips about 'prostates', 'impotence' 'baldness' and 'premature ejaculation', etc., or the fact that Men would only 'talk' in secret with each other, (just like the "Women's Studies" section of "Answers" is only accessible by Women). If Men are good enough for Women to talk about then surly They could show Us the comon curtesy (decency?) (respect?) of talking With Us, or is that an invasion of Their rights?
Thank You for Your enlightened attitude towards "Men's Rights", I just wish that there were more right thinking Women like You!!!!!!

Because the entire history of the world is "men's studies" men writing about men for men. The fact that women have equal value to men is a relatively new concept in human history.

Good question. And why are there no Men's Studies courses in college? Are minorities and the dispossessed the only groups worth studying? Or is the assumption that all of history is about men (white men) justification enough? What would men study about themselves? Certainly there would be possibilities to explore.

I'm a man and I don't care, I think its in the sports section or politics. Maybe woman like to talk about woman stuff to make themself feel better and bash on men, its kinda like getting together to hate on the man and talk about how they deserve special treatment and how we men are so bad.

I like some of the feminazi comments on this topic. I believe there are plenty of male studies...higher suicide rates, drugs, violent crimes, depression....or even the latest trend with boys doing worse in school. Is this enough for you? Feminazis?

Men have been studied for years and most of the information that we have over the centuries has been about their activities. Any section could be called men's studies even health since most research was done on males and then the finding were then just assumed to cover both genders. This by the way was shown to be quite untrue right down to the way that women present during a heart attack. The symptoms are generally different. Women need an area to deal with situations that affect them in ways that differ from men. This can be historically, legally, in religion to mention a few. Women suffer from oppression in our society still in wages, educational and employment choices. Hope this clears this up for you.

I say yes to men's studies. We could call it His Story. Or wait--I think we already have that field of study. Well, never mind, I vote yes.

Who cares about men? It's not PC. The first thing I look at when I fire someone is their race and sex. If it's a white male...slam dunk. No one cares about men...and I'm a white male.
