Dunno -- but maybe it was a trend that began in the '90s when we all started expressing ourselves in original ways. In a sense, trying to live outside the box. I think that is the reason. It could also be a way to identity discovery. I don't have time to explain but that could be another reason.
Peace!!

Some black people think white people give their children odd names. And the same goes for every other culture. You'd almost never see a black person give their child a name like "Mary Beth" or something....I guess its just preference.

what may seem odd to one person -- is just assigning "special" names for special people.
our children are special and it is a personal choice what we name them.
look into the Bible. you will find ALL KINDS of odd names .... some you can not even pronounce.
and look, I am white and think that some of those names are so very cool, special, precious because they are different and unique for a very special and unique child.
and why not break out of the routine and try different for awhile.
For we are all unique, different, and special.
why not have a name from mom and dad that is special.
naming is hard and naming is a gift from mom and dad.
hope this helps.
by the way, i have a routine and boring name but it serves the purpose.

i'm one hundred% particular that Jerusalem belongs to Israel and that the Arab declare to it is going to fail. i'm also one hundred% particular that a Jewish Temple will be conventional on the Temple Mount. The Arab international is in for some dramatic losses. we are all in an excellent type of trouble over the concern of Jerusalem in spite of the undeniable fact that the end result is going to be some thing staggering for the international.

LOL. i hear you! it's just like saying the Hawaiian Culture give their children odd & long names. I believe it's just their culture, same goes for some Asian's (i.e. Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean). It's part of their culture & a matter of tradition.

Well that's your opinion... the term 'odd' is relative. I actually think that white names are quite boring... Jane, Mary-kay,Megan? Not cute at all :)
Why do white celebrities give their kids 'odd' names like Apple and Rocco??
