The play was written in England, but takes place in Verona - which is in Italy. Most of Shakespeare's plays, regardless of where they are set, are steeped in the morality of Elizabethan England. So, while the play does take place in Italy, it is really about England in that sense.

the characters are in VERONA......(italy).....and William S. was english.......I can't believe you didn't know that.....Not in a bad way.....it's just weird.....lol
