The husband who strangles the wife is an actor who is a part of the movie. The married couple is a different couple from the one portrayed in the film.

The 2 married people are married to different people. They meet at the theater and the husband leaves his wife in the car. During the film (which he is at with his married lover) he sneaks out and kills her. Then drives her home after the movie.

Well then you didn't say anything about him strangling her in the theater.
He just brought her to the car or something, strangled her while the film is playing, and then drives home the body unnoticed.

the husband in the movie strangled the movie wife and took her home while everyone in the theatre, including the married couple in the first sentence, didn't flinch. they were busy watching the fictional murder.

Your wording suggests that the husband strangling the wife is onscreen as part of the film.
The married couple leave together just like normal...............Nothing unusual to notice......
