Yes, I have been there and I have studied the geology and the carvings which are some of the largest of their kind depicting the Confederate leaders of the Civil War.
It was begun by the Daughters of the Confederacy and later other groups joined because of the cost and scale of the undertaking. Borglum, who did the carvings at Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota, was involved in the early planning stages of the carvings.
It is a granitic rock (called a monadnock) protruding from the surrounding rock. A train runs around the base and a tram carries visitors to the top. A laser light show runs during the summer. There are all sorts of accommodations and dining in and around Stone Mountain.

It is a southern version of Mt. Rushmore located in Georgia near Atlanta.
It has figures of 3 confederate icons. Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis are two of them. I don't recall who the third one is....possibly J.E.B. Stuart.
