well in my class we we're dividing a grid with a 100 squares into to 6 equal parts. but we didn't get to finish so it became homework.........so what ur suppose to do is divid the grid into 6's and there is going to be left over as fractions .....i just can't figure it out! i know it's 16 2/3's for 1/6 but don't know the rest all the way to 5/6. so can you guys help me find the percent for 2/6 3/6 4/6 5/6 thank you to all the people that helped me! if you don't get it heres an a example:divide 1/3 on the 100 square grid,=33 1/3%! then 2/3's = 66 2/3% then 3/3 = 100% i know how to do that but not 1/6 2/6 3/6 4/6 5/6

1/6 = 16 2/3
2/6 = 1/3 = 33 1/3
3/6 = 1/2 = 50
4/6 = 2/3 = 66 2/3
5/6 = 83 1/3
6/6 = 100

You are almost finished already with what you said.

The grid is 100 squares by 100 squares

The first thing to do is to get a piece of scrap paper and do the following.

Draw a square.

Draw a line in the center of the square from left to right. (Now you have 1/2 the grid on top and 1/2 the grid on bottom)

You need to have this in 6 equal parts, so draw two vertical lines each 1/3 the way across.

Now you have six equal sections on the grid. This scrap paper will be your road map to the finished grid.

Now take your grid paper.

Put a little dot at the top left corner for a starting point. Because the scrap paper shows we need 3 sections on top, we know that each section will have 33 squares plus 1/3 left over. So start counting squares from the tiny dot at the top left to the right. When you get to 33 squares, put a tiny dot in the top right of that tiny square.
Do it again.
Do it again.
You will have 1 square left over.
Draw Four vertical lines from top to bottom where the four tiny dots are. That will give you three sections across.

Now draw a line exactly in the center from left to right.
You now have six equal sections and a long vertical line 1 cell deep on the right.

If you are allowed to use a calculater and if not paper and pencil will work but 1/6 is equal to 16 2/3% therefore 2/6 is 1/3 which is 33 1/3%. 3/6 is equal to 1/2 which is 50% and 4/6 is equal to 2/3 which is 66 2/3%. 5/6 is equal to 83 1/3%. Hope that answers your question. :)

1/3 = 33-1/3, which would be 33 and 1/3 squares. 1/6 would be 1/2 of that, which is 16 and a 1/6 plus 1/6, or 16 and 1/3 squares

2/6 is the same as 1/3
3/6 is the same as 1/2
4/6 is the same as 2/3
5/6 will be 5 x 16 and2/3

Is this what you want?
To get any percent if you know the fraction: Put the fraction into a calculator and then multiply by 100.
So 1/6 = .16666 x 100 = 16.66%
if you get 6666 it is 2/3 = 16 2/3 %

if you get 3333 it is 1/3
like 5/6 = .83333 = 83 1/3%

2/6=1/3
3/6=1/2
4/6=2/3

its the same as what you did with the thirds. divide to the lowest common denominator.
