Generally children of a black and white couple are considered "mixed" race. For Asian and American couples, their children are considered EurAsian...there doesnt seem to be an actual designation for Black/White children. In the old days these children/adults were considered "mulato" - not a very endearing term! To get back to your question thought, as most children born to black/white couples become adults they identify themselves as mixed race or based on where they grew up and their skin tone/features they may align themselves with one or the other race. For example actor Sharmar Moore, actress Halley Berry and singer Alicia Keyes - these artists are most often considered African Americans but when discussing their family background are proud of their mixed race, although growing up was at times difficult since neither race completely accepted them...funny huh...God created us all! The child is bi-racial, meaning bi-racial = both races. The child is both races; mixed with white race and black race together. So, the child is a result of two races. S(he) is black and white. Bi-racial is short for saying that. You can say mixed, intermixed, but I'd say bi-racial (bi meaning two and racial relating to races) is the best appropriate term for a two racial child.

My answer is from experience. My dad was white, but my mom black. I'm considered black. for some reason the Afro American race, dominates. my cousin and his white wife had a baby and the hospital automatically put "black" on the birth certificate after the parents both put their races down.

lol they call themselves "mixed"..maybe it all depends on the child..One of them is me but im Black and Asian..I really do like both and i was born in the U.S but when i fill out a form,i just check black/African descent cuz i do look black but i got some asian in me.But that was a good question,i think the should start having a section on the forms we fill with that says "mixed" or bi-racial...or watcha think?

The child's race is human. Homo sapiens sapiens, to be exact. That was an easy question.
When people stop obssessing about race, this society will be a much better place.
