Well of course he was elected. Beyond that the U.S. through the CIA (George Bush, Sr.) built Saddam up to the third largest army in the whole continent. They did this to punish Iran for the hostage situation and prevent Iranian expansion into Iraq. Saddam did a great job killing for the US, he got to use all the neat chemical and bio weapons and other US supplied Weapons of Mass Destruction not only against Iranians but on his own people as well! Your hard tax dollars at work ... no wonder the Islamic world HATES Americans.

Saddam Hussein never had power. Nobody on the face of this planet has power, because we can not turn away from our own pathetic nature. I don't mean to be sadistic, but we can not obtain power so long as we are human. Saddam Hussein was just another example of our true intentions. So long as we are affected by the influence of people like Saddam, and are hurt by their actions, we are no better than him. Killing Saddam Hussein did not change a single thing. The only difference brought about by his hanging, is that there is one less person in the world. Do not try to justify his hanging with cries that he was barbaric and hateful. Was he? Was he really that evil? I openly admit that I am worse than Saddam Hussein, because I felt justice was done when he died. For that reason we are all no better than him.
