3/(x-4) +2 = 5/(x-4)
3(x-4) = 5(x-4)+2
3x - 12 = 5x - 20 +2
3x - 5x = -18 + 12
-2x = -6
x = -6:-2
x = 3
Solution: {x E R | x = 3}

3/(x-4)+2=5/(x-4)
3/(x-4)-5/(x-4)=-2
-2/(x-4)=-2
x-4=1
x=5

3/(x - 4) + 2 = 5/(x - 4)
move terms with x's to Left Hand Side and non-x terms to Right Hand Side:
3/(x - 4) - 5/(x - 4) = -2
Combine like terms:
-2/(x - 4) = -2
Multiply by both sides by (x - 4):
-2 = -2*(x - 4)
Divide both sides by -2:
1 = x - 4
Isolate x:
x = 5

Good luck!
