All answers were pretty good. It is your switch. Very easy to do. When you buy a new switch, you want to purchase a single pole switch if you can only turn the light on and off from ONE location only. If you can turn it on and off from multiple locations you need a 3-way switch. Turn the power off, remove the wires from the old switch, and put them on the new one. If you buy a single pole switch it does not matter what screw you put the wires back on, one wire per screw. If it is a 3-way, just put the wires back in the same places you took them off the old one.
Good luck!

If a wire came loose you wouldn't be able to turn the light ON. Your problem is in the switch itself. The switch needs to be replaced, & is easy to do yourself. Just transfer the wires from the old switch to the new one. Just make sure you remove the fuse, or flip off the circuit breaker back at the panel before you attempt to do this.

Greets..
Alas the wall switch has reached the end of it 's life...
You can replace it yourself..... just ensure you flip off the electric breaker switch and thus eliminating any chance of nastiness..
Best way to get the power off is to switch the Main Breaker off...
Or, leave the light on then switch breakers one at a time until you see light is off. It is usually a 15 amp breaker.... (should have a 15 marked on it)
Your just replace the switch with a like unit attaching the wires the same way as the existing switch. (there are only 2) and it will work.
Or, call the landlord.

We added a new light fixture in the bathroom. All was working wonderful, except you couldn't turn it off. We made sure once again that the wires were all correct. Then the fixture didn't work at all. Took the switch out, seemed like everything was hooked up correctly. HELP

The wire is probably loose. Or the switch is going out. Either way, shut off the power to that switch, take off the face plate and look to see if you can see a wire that has come loose.
Unscrew the switch and pull it out. Reconnect the wire, or just replace the switch.
It could be something more complicated, but I doubt it. Try this first. If this doesn't work, it may be time to call an electrician.

Looks like its a single gang switch.
Get one Tester or a small screwdriver. Switch off the main line (main cut out / main breaker of your house), Now unscrew the faulty lamp switch. Have a look inside what happened. You will find:
(1) wire fixing screw(s) loose, Action- tighten loose screw(s) to fix the wire(s)
or (2) may notice signs of sparks / burn, Action-replace the switch
(3) now turn on main power line
(4) switch on the lamp now
Hope it works for you.
Good Luck
