I always use tooth paste ( not gel, PASTE) and an old soft tooth brush to clean my rings and earrings.
Necklaces: I use an old soft cloth (not terry cloth) Hold the necklace at one end & pull through the folded cloth. Repete till no more lines show on cloth.
Sterling Silver: Just wipe till no more tarnish comes off.( or get the sterling silver wipe clothes from Wal-Mart)

The easiest way is to go into a good-quality jeweler and ask them to clean the two rings. Most of the high-end jewelry stores will do that for free as a way to build good will and get future customers. And while you are there they will check whether any stones are loose and in danger of falling out. They will offer to fix them for free or for a low price.

Top Job, warm water and a Toothbrush, for diamonds and hard stones as well as gold. Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. Never on pearls

My roommate in college always washed her Jewelry with a toothpaste (non-gel) and a washcloth.

I use this method years later and it works awesome. and is safe.

It shines up my dull silver like no other!!
