Do you suggest getting the iPhone for it's camera? I mean I've heard the 8GB is $600, and a good new camera can be $450. So $150 isn't bad for an MP3 + Cell/Smartphone

So is the iPhona's camera good enough that you could use it as a regular camera?

Thanks

Sorry, I didn't mean getting it solely for the camera. Just as a replacement, I wanted to know if it would be a good one.

You raise a very good question, will the iPhone be good replacement to a digital camera. First is the iPhone will include a 2Mp camera but there is no flash at the moment in this design. Now the more important question is how do you plan on using the camera feature of the iPhone. If you plan is to sporadically snap pictures in well lit locations then its probably satisfactory. But if you want to take pictures in varying lighting situations then I will say the camera in the iPhone will be severely limited. In its current design it will not be a replacement to your standalone digital still camera.

The camera on the iPhone is a 2 mega pixel camera. If you're looking for a digital camera you can probably find one for $450 with 8 mega pixels. So buying the iPhone for the camera specifically probably wouldn't satisfy what you're looking for. But having an 8 GB phone/ iPod/ Internet connection is an incredible product for the price.

The iPhone's camera is 2 mega-pixels. Most "good" cameras for say--$450 are more around 6-8 mega-pixels... and that's kind of on the low side. So, if your thinking of getting this iPhone just for its camera... I wouldn't. But since it does come with email, web browsing, notebook, weather, music, videos, etc., I think that the 4GB ($499) one is worth it. By the way: The iPhone doesn't release until June 2007, so you still have time to make your decision. ;)

I don't know, but I do know that phone is awesome and if I had the cash I would have one in my hands right now.
