If women are always telling us how hard they work,?

Why are there so many widows about.

There are widows because women do smarter, sometimes easier work than men do. :) Most women I know don't work on construction sites or in mills or production lines of factories, they work desk jobs and other jobs that don't have as many hazards as most men's jobs do. :)

i dont understand you, what does being a widow have to do with working hard?
widows are there because their husbands have died, maybe you were asking why many women are single and the answer for this is their lay husbands are either in jail or cannot be bothered to go to work and support the family as it should be, otherwise who else will raise the kids if the mother is working?

Because there are plenty of people who work hard and live a long life and people can get ill and die, regardless of who is there to help and/or look after them.

I think, for this comment to resonate you are expecting us to immediately make some connection between men's shorter lifespans and the stress of overwork outside the home. (You will need to cite some studies if this is what you're saying.) I think you also expect us to assume that most women are not going out to work, even in 2007, and that domestic labour either a) exists in a vacuum or b) is also primarily performed by men or c) somehow doesn't count.

Alternatively, perhaps you are making a joke connected to women's feeding of men (or lack of it) or the idea that women haven't been providing for men (i.e "bringing home the bacon" as men have been traditionally instructed to do).

Your point needs to be made clearer.

Men usually marry women younger than they are! The average age at death of men is lower though because of the differences in life style, so perhaps it should be the other way round. If you want to outlive your wife make sure she is at least 7 years older. To equalise the age if you dont like the idea of an older woman, Do not just your own work but the housework shopping cooking etc and let her be the one to sit in front of the TV or go off to the Pub every night. We may not work harder Physically but we work far more. It is this that helps us live longer even if we dont like the fact!

Well, actually women live more than men just because of how our bodies are, not for how hard we work... I believe men live 5 or more years less tan women....
There are lazy men everywhere, but there is also lazy women everywhere, the sex do not have anything to do with the willingness of working....
If women complain more than men that they work so hard is because they show their emotions more often than men do, and that is a Psychology fact... They are more susceptible of feeling that men don't appreciate their work... Men don't care that much about what anybody thinks, that's why we might complain less.

According to Insurance statistics the ratio is changing.
Apparently the female life span is beginning to fall in line with males. Males are living longer while females are living shorter lives. This it seems is due to the stress related lifestyle that a lot of females now lead, i.e. working long hours, poor diet, excess alcohol.

-women are more willing to go to the doctor, before there is a huge problem.
-women are not as phsically "risking", as men.
-men push themselves too hard, due to their competative nature with one other. (How many men ask to help?)
This is why women tend to live longer than men.
