A Toxoplasma infection occurs by:

Accidentally swallowing cat feces from a Toxoplasma-infected cat that is shedding the organism in its feces. This might happen if you were to accidentally touch your hands to your mouth after gardening, cleaning a cat's litter box, or touching anything that has come into contact with cat feces. Eating contaminated raw or partly cooked meat, especially pork, lamb, or venison; by touching your hands to your mouth after handling undercooked meat.
Contaminating food with knives, utensils, cutting boards and other foods that have had contact with raw meat.
Drinking water contaminated with Toxoplasma.
Receiving an infected organ transplant or blood transfusion, though this is rare.

That being said I don't think you have to worry about petting your cat or your cat sleeping on your bed. Still, I would recommend washing your hands after petting your cat, it's good hygiene if nothing else. I had 2 cats when I was pregnant with my second child and my OB just said not to touch the litter, she said nothing about petting.

I am not currently pregnant but when I was I had a cat and she was always loved by me and petted by me and fed by me and slept with me everyday of my pregnancy and I did not get toxomoplasmios. She did not have a litter box she went to the bathroom outside so I guess that made her an indoor outdoor cat and I was fine

I have a cat, and I had her when I was pregnant too. My son and I are just fine. You're doing the right thing about not changing the litter. "They" also say to wash your hands after petting the cat, but don't worry about it too much, enjoy being pregnant!!

Toxoplasmosis is a parasite found in raw or undercooked meat. It's passed through a feline's feces if the feline ingests raw or undercooked meat.

My cat was an indoor cat and ate strictly cat food, but i had my mother change the litter for me anyways. I pet my cat and let her sleep with me, just as if i weren't pregnant. My son never developed toxoplasmosis.

I think you both will be fine. :)

I have three kids and I had cats all three times. Petting is fine just stay away from the litter box. You should be ok with them sleeping with you too. Congrats and good luck

You and your baby will be just fine! :) We had just gotten our cat a month before I found out I was pregnant... and we almost got rid of her, but I'm so glad we didn't- my son and her are best buddies! Anyways, I never changed her litter- my husband did. Also- she layed with me in bed- and I think she sensed the baby because she'd sleep on my belly! Even when my belly was a huge mountain she did! And ever since I had my son, she hasn't laid on my tummy! lol Now she just lays beside me. Keep your cat :) Just don't change the litter.

All you have to worry abotu is not touching feline fecal matter (cat poop)...hence why it isnt good for pregnant women to handle kitty litter. Soem kitty litter is not even safe to handle even if it is freash/clean...but if you are talking strictly abotu what the dangers of cats are during pregnancy....it is only in their fecal matter. So try not to touch the cats rear end incase there is any of the bacteria on his fur...and if you do by chance happen to touch that area, or get fecal matter on you...simply wash your hands with anti bacterial soap and you are good to go.

Other than that...no worries. I have a cat, and I have my husband change the litter, but I still pet/play with the cat..and she still cuddles on my lap and sleeps on the bed with us at night. Nothign to worry about.

I have two cats and i am 6 months pregnant as long as you don't change the litter you will be fine. once you get farther along you will not have to worry about toxoplasmosis. also most people that have cats has already had toxoplasmosis and if this is the case it should not harm your baby.

Stay away from the cat waste and you'll be fine. Unfortunately one of my 2 cats has been very naughty since I got pregnant and has decided she doesn't want to use the litter box... *sigh*

Yes, all our cats have done that over the years. Some do it more than others. Some dip a paw and then lick the water off of it. Some just stir up the water than drink. Some just watch the moving water. And, some consistently spill the water which I then step in when I'm in my stocking feet.
