It's gross, but give us moms some credit please - after many stressful hours of labor and our bodily functions basically shutting down in order for the body to concentrate on labor, can you really blame us if something like that happens? There's something a lot more important than that going on during labor.

It is wise not to believe everything you hear. It is true that you may have a bowel movement while giving birth, however it is not true that it "almost always" happens. I have given birth 4 times and never had this happen. It is nothing to make a big deal about. It happens, it gets cleaned up, and everyone moves on to the important thing at hand - welcoming a new baby into the world. In addition, it is common (at least in American) to give birth while laying on a table with your feet up in stirrups. This requires your bottom to be scootched all the way to the end of the table thus the bowel movement does not go all over the table but usually on the floor.

Cut the guy some slack ladies, he was just saying he was amazed and wanted to tell other women in case some first time pregnant women didn't know.

My mom told me that it was a possibility i would and told me to ask for an enema. I never had to ask for one since i had a c-section, though.

Hahaa. I've seen women give birth three or four times, but i've never seen one poop on the table. I think they went an crapped in the toilet first. I bet if someone pulled a nine pound baby out of my piss hole i'd crap too!

Yes I knew that it happened. And it isn't ALL over the table. Usually IF it happens it is just a little bit. And not all women do it. Just some. Perhaps if you want better answers you should use more tact in asking your question.

Yes I have heard of this, it never happened to me or anyone I know personally. But I can understand how it can because when you push they tell you to push as if you are haveing a bowel movement. There is so much pressure & pain that if does happen to anyone they probably would not care any way.

All over the table, huh?
No.
Maybe with some women a little comes out, but really, with all that pain, the woman doesn't notice and it is cleaned up quickly by who ever is delivering the baby.

Did you know that sometimes they vomit too?

Unfortunatley, yes. They neglect to mention that part when they are telling you about all the wonderful moments of childbirth. The upside is, as the mom, you are in so much pain or have so many pain killers in you that you could care less.

my doc said that about 50% of girl do go potty on the table while delievering, BUT, like it matters your shooting a baby out, i dont think that any woman cares about poo at that moment hehe. plus the docs whisk it away right after it happens. they are totally professional about it and understand that it does happen and why.
