i really like the guy, and he gets clean for a while saying "i had an epiphany, i'm going to look after my kid" and then before i know it he's back on the rock... just wondering if anyone knew what steps to take. he is in N.A

I think someone should get him into rehab and have his mother look after him or another trustworthy person.

Your best bet is to move on because he is not going to get clean until he is ready. NO ONE including you can get him clean.
As for N.A. (That's a great place for the few who take it seriously, but really it's just a place to meet your next connection.)
It sounds to me as if you are merely just sleeping with this guy and have no kids, HOPEFULLY.
If he knew what he had to do to get his act together, He WOULD be a father to his kid... I won't even ask if he's paying support.
If you are clean or want to get clean, you have to get away from him and find a new circle.
This meth epidemic that is sweeping across middle class America is just horrible, and the sad thing is that it makes you so "sexual" thus a lot of sexual crimes are commited.
Just think about this, I mean there are so many decent folks out there NOT hooked and just don't sell yourself short - The world is a huge place and I can't stress enough that you can't get someone else clean.
I know it'll hurt, but it's for the best...

Have him committed, its tough love, but its about the only way, he needs to be in a place that can watch him and he won't have any access to the rock. But if he gets out and starts up again, then say, see ya. It is hard, but he will bring you down.

Honey i've been clean for 5 years and if you want a recovering addicts point of view.... Run like hell!! it's not worth it. If he's working a real and honest program and working his steps he woudn't be using.

the only way that your Friend is going to get clean is he really has to want to become sober on his own.all you can do is be there to support your Friend when he hits bottom, and if he is as addicted to the drug like you say that he is he will hit bottom.
