My roommate has Sims 2 and she says there's just so much you can do and the graphics are better. But I have the Sims 1 Complete Collection and I haven't run out of things to do yet, so I think it depends on the person.

the graphics are obviously updated & the design was created to allow more interactions/sims/etc. So you could argue bigger and better.
However, the concept is exactly the same and the fact you have to go through another pay to Add on/upgrade cycle isn't cool.
If you kind of like Sims but don't LOVE Sims, buy the complete collection of Sims 1 at a fraction of the cost of Sims2 and be happily playing for another year or two.
It also will work much better than Sims 2 if your PC is a little old.

well in the Sims 1 you had less options, lower graphics and there was less items and careers to choose from but in the Sims 2 you have a wider variety, better graphics and you also have a new mode - story mode. also with the Sims 2 you can see the people grow up from a baby to a grandparent before your eyes but in the Sims 1 they stayed the same age, a child, adult or grandparent. and as i said before there is more things to do. for example i the Sims 2 you can change nappies for the baby but in the Sims one you could only feed or play with the baby.

i think the graphics are meant to be a lot better in 2 than in 1 i think its more 3D
