It all depends on where you live,and your mode of travel......... (Walking,train,car,or air.)

Depends on where you're coming from, and I'm not talking distance.

If you're a citizen of one of those countries where there are many requests for immigrant visas, such as the Philippines, it could take decades for a US citizen to successfully petition a sibling. Not weeks, months, or even years: DECADES!

Even a nonimmigrant visa could be really difficult to get esp if you don't have a compelling reason to go home. US Gov't is not crazy about those who overstay their tourist visas these days.
