I am being induced and was wondering how long the process took, from when you checked in to when you gave birth, and how soon after were you released from the hospital?

I went in for an induction but was already in labor. They told me it could take up to 3 days to deliver after an induction. I delivered over 24 hours later via c-section.

by the way, if they break your water they have to deliver with in 24 hours.

Every pregnancy is different with every mom. If you are going to be induced is it by pitocen or is it by breaking your water. All that will make a difference too. My daughter was induced and from the beginning to the delivery it was 6 hours. No matter how you look at the birthing process you will have to dialate from 1-10 before that baby comes out - time between depends on your own body and how it tolerates the labor and how the baby also tolerates it. Good Luck -

I went pretty quickly. About 5 hours after I was induced I gave birth. I left the hospital 2 days later. However, everyone is different!

It was my first pregnancy just this past year and I was 37 weeks along when my doctor decided to induce me because of high blood pressure. When I was 39 weeks, I checked into the hospital at 6:15 am and they started the induction at 6:30 am. They then gave me a shot of morphine when the contractions started getting painful, but I was at 2 cm for the longest time. When the morphine started wearing off the contractions were coming stronger, but I was still 2 - 3 cm. They had to wait until the cervix was thinned out before being able to do anything, so it was about 5:30 pm when I was finally about 7 cm and the midwife nurse came in and broke my water. Then they gave me an epidural (because they had an emergency c-section and 2 deliveries right before me so I was last in line) and the epidural started wearing off it seems like around 8:30 pm when I was in tears they came in and did something with the epidural to make me numb again. I couldn't feel my legs, but I could still feel a good part of the contractions. The nurse finally came in around 11 and checked to see if I was ready and the doc *who was also pregnant lol* came in right behind and pushed around til I was completely effaced. It was 11:30 pm when I started pushing and at 11:59 pm Ryan was born. So they say it's supposed to go quickly, but it just depends on your baby. I guess Ryan didn't want to check out of the hotel so he stayed in there quite a while. After that they let me sleep and at around 8:30 am they brought him into the room to stay. I didn't get to get checked out until Thursday at noon because they had a rule the first time mom had to stay for at least 72 hours.

I was checked into the hospital at around 11:30am and not induced untill almost 7:30pm. They planned on doing it that way. When my contractions actually started after the induction suppository, they came so hard and fast that they had to give me an epidural to slow them down-if I understood it right. Then at 7:15 am the next morning I had my son. We were in the hospital for two more days and I got to take him home.

I was got to the hospital at 7 am to be induced. At around 12 or 1 pm i was released from the hospital to go home since i didn't have strong contractions. At around 3 pm i started having them, and monitored them until i finally arrived at the hospital at 5:45 pm. I had my son at 1:30 am the next day via c-section since my son never engaged.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I was induced with both my pregnancies. Each time was different; (although with both, the drs used pitocin). With my first, I was induced at 4 in the afternoon and gave birth the next morning at around 5. They had to break my water with that little plastic hook they use.

With my second, I was induced at 7am and she was born at exactly 12noon! It went much more quickly than the first time.

Both times I was in hospital for 48 hours (they just want that bed!).

I'm sure you'll have a great delivery; enjoy your baby!!

i was booked in on Wednesday morning to have the gel applied to the cervix which they told me could take anywhere from 12-24 hours to work, but they were extremely busy and delayed me until the next morning.

Luckily the next morning i was already 1 cm dilated and they just broke my waters at 9 am (Thursday).

They gave me the drip that speeds up your contractions, i cant remember what is called but i delivered my daughter a 8.30pm that same night. so it took just just under 12 hours.

i was in hospital until Monday morning when they said i could check out.

They kept me in for that long so they could do the heel prick test on the baby on the Monday. i think that's the standard time to stay in with your first. I am in Australia so it might be different all around the world.

I was admitted 11 pm Monday night. They put the Cervidil on my cervix at about 11:30 pm (to soften my cervix.) The nurse said in her 8 years of nursing only 2 patients went into immediate labor, they normally took 12+ hours. She also told me I would probably start labor the next morning, because they can't remove the cervidil tab for 12 hours. Needless to say, I started HEAVY contractions at about 2 am. The nurse came in to check my cervix and accidentally broke my water. I started pushing at 5 am and he came at 5:24 am.
Since labor went so well and i recovered so quickly. They actually released us from the hospital the next afternoon. I would definitely recommend walking around as much as possible, it'll get you out of there quicker! and depending on the baby of course.
Congrats on your arrival and good luck!

It depends on how far your cervix is already dilated. If your not dilated at all they most likely will insert a vaginal medication to soften your cervix. That may take some time. In my case I was already 3 centimeters dilated and gave birth within 3 hours and left the hospital 24 hours later. Every birth is different depending on all factors.

I was induced at 38 weeks pregnant. I came in around 7am and by the NEXT DAY I still was only dialted to 3cm despite pitocin, prostiglandin, and breaking my bag of waters. I was finally c-sectioned around 2:33pm that afternoon and spent four days in the hosptial after that
