your coming to the wrong country if you want to meet 'homeys'.....its not a term we use here....
both melb and syd have some great attractions aswell as entertainment....i guess it really depends on what you want and what your looking for from your holiday.....the weather would probably be better in sydney that time of the year....i Love both states.....
