A blood test is the surest way of determining if you ar pregnant or not. Some over-the-counter pregancy tests could give false negatives if not used appropriately per instructions; some may not detect low HcG levels. Blood pregnancy tests detect pregnancy, with conclusive accuracy.

Of course. Any test can give a false positive or a false negative. As a rule of thumb, a blood test is going to be more accurate than a urine test. And the further along you are, the less likely a false positive becomes.

Oh yes. Very yes. It gave a false positive to me and I got so freaked. But I took a second one about a week later, and it gave me a negative. So if it can go false one way, it certainly can the other way. Just wait a little bit and test again.

If you test yourself too soon then you could get a false negative. Its better to have a blood test for pregnancy if you want to be certain.

Yes they can give a false negative, not very often unless you have done the test too early. They are pretty accurate but nothing is perfect. If you are that concerned go see your doctor and have a urine test done.......that way you will be absoutly sure!

My doctor told me that false negatives are more likely to happen than false positives. False positives are highly unlikely, but do on occassion happen.

Good luck!

False negatives AND false positives...these things are not always correct.

Yes! It's possible that's why when you go to the doctor and tell them that you are pregnant they retest you! I took 5 home tests and they all gave me a positive result! I wasn't pregnant at that time!
