My nephew just finished 2 tours in Iraq and he signed up for another 4 years in the military with a promotion. He believes in what he is doing.
Another nephew is an officer and training a tank unit to go over there.
And yes of course all my family is republican - conservative.
The liberals constantly insult everything we believe in and expect people to buy their "yeah we hate the war but we support the troops" line. If they supported them they would not be tearing our country down with everything they say.

Yes, our military can finish the job.

But how much longer will it take? Are we going to be an occupying force for 1 year? 2? 10? How are we going to continue to support our current deployment moneywise? I want a plan that will root out the infiltrating Shiite militias and gangs in the security forces, and a plan that will subdue the Sunni insurgents (which don't seem to be in the news that often, so that looks like a plus)?

Not to mention that the place is heading towards a *possible* civil war. Our presence is helping to keep that at bay. But what do we do when Saudi Arabia decides to move in and support the Sunnis? Then when Iran responds and moves in to support the Shiites? Or even just use that as an excuse (which the definately could) just to get shots at our troops?

Are we willing to start a war against countries that hold our economic throats in their hands?

There's more to consider than the 'terrorists' we're fighting and the 'democracy' we're spreading.

Fight to the finish meaning what? I acknowledge and respect the troops for doing what they are doing. They chose to sign up knowing there was always a possibility of war. In the military system it would be very difficult for someone who did not have that commitment, that is their job. Death is final, we have over 3,000 soldiers' families who have lost their loved ones and thousands more who are permanently disabled. My entire concern with stopping this war is the lives, minds and bodies of all the soldiers and Iraqi civilians. I'm old enough to remember Vietnam, all my friends' brothers coming home in CASKETS. But the President has made sure that people don't even see the images of the bodies coming home every day. Bring 'em back alive!!!!

The Liberals don't want the military to be strong. The military is one of the few institutions in the U.S. that functions well - this pisses off Liberals. Think about it, the U.S. Military was the first institution in the U.S. to integrate and promote racial equality, a true meritocracy (something the Liberals abhor) and they weren't even forced to by the Supreme Court. The Liberal HATE the military and they want to use this war to beat them down.

You fail to understand they are under orders to say what they do and it is not there place to comment on whether they should stay or go .
This is a moral issue and I see the logic in it .Ask yourself one question would you want to be ricking your life everyday for a year or more .Would you enjoy shooting people and blowing up buildings .If you do you are a sociopath .
Any sane person would want to be home safe and free from the constant threat of death .

I'll never understand why some people think the strongest superpower in the world (the US) might lose to a backwards tribal country like Iraq. We can win, if we have the will (as of now the libs are sucking the will right out of the people)
