A collier had the worst job in the world, spending about 12 hours a day down a dirty dusty coal mine, most of them never even saw the light of day and some of these workers,were as young as 12 yrs old. Each and every one of them deserved a medal for the job they did !!!

do you mean a collier, if so it was a peson that worked in a coal mine, and usually it used to refer to the old type mine where someone dug the coal in a shaft mine and then someone brought a tub ( little box on wheels to him ) and then drew it away from them , their names were drawers. All my family did these jobs so I am familiar with the terms.
