"Hey Jude" is a ballad recorded by The Beatles at Trident Studios. It was written by Paul McCartney but credited to Lennon/McCartney and originally written for the The Beatles album (also known unofficially as The White Album), but was released instead as a single. Despite the song's length (7:05), it lasted two weeks as number one in the British charts. Due to concerns among American radio stations about the length, a shortened version was also released, which spent nine weeks as number one in the United States — the longest spell at the top of the American charts a Beatles single ever made. Although it has often been claimed[1] that "Hey Jude" was The Beatles' best-selling single, in reality, that record is held by "I Want to Hold Your Hand".

The song, originally titled "Hey Jules", was written by McCartney to comfort John Lennon's son Julian when John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia Powell, were divorced. The song and its single release have made many "Best of..." lists compiled by magazines such as Rolling Stone and other media outlets.

Jude may refer to:

"Jude" - 'Jew' in German. Jews were forced to use yellow tags with the text "Jude" printed on them during Hitler's administration between 1936 and 1945, in order to differentiate them from other citizens during the Nazi regime.
Jude or Judas (יהודה "Praise", Standard Hebrew Yəhuda, Tiberian Hebrew Yəhûḏāh) was the name of several people in the New Testament. The original Greek text of the New Testament makes no difference between the names Judah, Judas and Jude, rendering them all as Ioudas; but in many English translations Judah is used for the Old Testament figure and the tribe named after him, Judas is used only for Judas Iscariot, and Jude for all other New Testament persons of the same name.

Saint Jude, an apostle also called Thaddaeus or Lebbaeus, the patron saint of seemingly hopeless causes in the Catholic Church
Judas Iscariot, betrayer of Jesus
Judas called "the son of James" mentioned in Luke 6:16, may be the same as Judas surnamed Thaddaeus
Jude Thomas, usually identified as Thomas the apostle
Judas the Zealot, an otherwise unknown Apostle mentioned in the Epistle of the Apostles and the Decretum Gelasianum
Jude, brother of Jesus

the only "Hey Jude" I know is a song by the Beatles and it was a song written by Paul McCartney for John Lennons son Julian when he was witnessing the break up of his parents marriage. Originally the song was to be "Hey Jules" but was changed to "Hey Jude" other than that I do not know what is is to mean

I actually SANG it! There's an old "Little Rascals" flick where Spanky goes around singing "Hey Nonny Nonny And A Hot Cha Cha". It got stuck in my head as a kid. I'm 47, married with two kids, and am taking a beer break from putting brake pads on my '76 Nova, so I would guess that puts me at least nominally in the "manly man" category.

Hey! is to get someone's attention - like Oi! or Excuse me! (but that would only be used by ultra-polite people..!)

Jude is short for Julian - as in Julian Lennon.

So basically, it means, "Julian! I want your attention! Listen to what I'm saying...!!"
