99% of all questions and answers are incorrect. Is this the new standard of the English language?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a sentence starts with a number, it should be spelled out. Therefore, your post should read, "Ninety-nine percent" not "99%."

I am thrilled that the posts on Yahoo! answers are so awful. I use them for grammar and spelling lessons when I home school my son. It makes us both feel smart.

I try to spell check before I submit or I go back and edit/correct, but sometimes, I am in a hurry while thinking and typing at the same time. I have some typos that I miss. I usually do fairly well, though. Some people just don't care or don't know the difference, I guess.

I assume that you are using hyperbole here. . .

I am always correctly spelling things and making my answers as correct as I feasibly can.

Now, the questioners are often teens who use 'screen' lingo - "IM talk" I suppose one could call it, or "textspeak."

It is a 'bleedin' shame' that this site should be inundated with such drivel, even gibberish, but you and I could do well to ignore such plebiscites, and stick to the intelligent qu.'s and do everyone a favour. Answer the questions anyway, and show how well-written stuff makes more sense and can be attractive and even appealing. You may get 'best answer' as I often have.

Let's do this and raise the level of grammatical correctness and spelling. Singlehandedly we can make a difference. Well, double-handedly I suppose.

Cheers

A large percentage of the words are sight words They may be spelled partly by phonetics, but there are too many exceptions. A sight word is a word you just remember to pronunce a certain way because you heard it before or were taught to recognize certain letters for a word. That is why a person who does a lot of reading usually can spell better than a person who does not read much.
