Color has nothing to do with burn time. It depends on the wick and wax. A cotton wick will last longer and burn cleaner, lead wicks cause black marks on the walls. Parafin wax will also last longer and burn more evenly. If you're going for a cheap candle from walmart or the dollar store a color candle will take longer to burn. This is because they layer the color wax over the white wax, the color wax they use is thicker in consistancy, therefore burns slower.

It would not make any difference unless there was very small amount of heating taking place due to a dark color absorbing light, but who lights candles in the day?

i think it would depend on the type of WAX used to make the candle. bees wax i think is supposed to last fairly long, & preserves the wick longer as well.

there is the cheaper waxes & no matter what color dye is used, they just burn faster, cuz the wax doesn't have much to consume.....

let us know how your experiment goes.
