Hello there.
This is my first answer, so I'll try to make it as clear as possible.
First of all, you must know that you used the word "you" in your
question. Because of this, you'll get answers from all different
point of views, since it's getting more personal ;)
Alrighty, enough jingle-jangle.
I, as many others, believe that violence belong in Video-Games.
People who re-create the scenes shown in the game in real
life, are people who first of all should not have played them at all.
But, you should know just as I know it.
Rockstar™ is a company who create games.
Theese games isn't created by itself.
It's created by _people_. People, just like the ones who re-create
the scenes shown, and therefore, we have to blame ourself.
Our fantacy.
Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 is the games wich I must say is just
crap. It's trash games.
Those games were only about running around, use drugs and
killing people.
When Grand Theft Auto III (3) arrived to the stores, a whole new
world of GTA-Series entered our world.
GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas etc. have a history.
But there are games out there wich are just crap.
Trash Games, I say once again.
But please. Don't blame them. Don't look down at'em.
If we remove theese games from the stores, people will find a
new way to do their crimes. Movies? We'll remove them as well.
People won't stop acting like idiots by that reason.
So, the final answe from me is:
We cannot blame video-games. Just ourself for doing such
acts.

Thesis- Violent videogames should be legal because of parental control, and fantasy.
In the world of video games, a rating system has been created to advise the buyers of what they are getting into. It is not wise for a parent to buy a child that is barely out of grade school, a game like Grand Theft Auto, because of the M rating. Some parents may say their kids know fromm what is real and fake, but in the young mind the perception of reality is not clear until they hit 16 to 17. Even if the parent does buy the child the game, it is not the games fault for what ever comes out of it, the game is designed to be appreciated by mature players, which means that it should stay legal as long as the people playing it are mature.
This also brings up the fact of reality versus virtual reality. People should know that you don't take a gun tell a persong to get the F out of the car, and then steal the car. Life just doesn't work that way, but that is also the enjoyment of the game. Haven't you ever came home one day and was really agitated. Well what better thing to do then to take all your frustration out with explosives set in a fantasy world.
Video games are meant for the same purposes as going to the movies, they let the viewer/player get sucked into a world that they know they could never live for themselves. That is why violent video games should not be made illlegal.

Do you think video games or even games in general should be illegal?
Remember that many games are confrontative in nature,
Grand Theft Auto and Bully are just more graphic than the average game.
Some who support 'freedom of expression' often tend to be too vigorous in allowing offending material to spread so that 'freedom of expression' will flourished, at least until they are personally hit by certain events and then secretly realized that there's no such thing as 'freedom of expression'.
Violent video games should be legal to ANYONE and at ANYWHERE, IF 'freedom of expression' is respected.
Anyway. A group of people shouldn't be exposed to materials that offend them, however if the same materials don't offend other group of people, then it's okay to exposed those group of people to those materials.
A for A lovers, B for B lovers. No A for A haters, no B for B haters.
The problem today is... it has become:
A for A haters, B for B haters. No A for A lovers, no B for B lovers.
Grand Theft Auto and Bully should be available to anyone who want them, if these people who want these games happened to be children and their parents allowed them to play these games, then make these games available to these children.
Grand Theft Auto and Bully shouldn't be available to anyone who don't want them, these people who don't want these games shouldn't recieve any mention at all on these games.

No, I think that their sale should be restricted to adults, like they are now. Video games are forms of entertainment and cannot be made illegal any more than a violent movie can be banned. Video game ratings are in place and function in virtually the same way as their movie counterparts, and they work for the most part.
It is the responsability of parents to make sure that their children don't play these games, not lawmakers.
The most important thing however, is that these games should be kept out of the hands of children. While I have no problem with someone my age (22) playing Grand Theft Auto, I don't think that a teenager should be playing it. If a game is too violent, it should be rated accordingly.

no but i DO think that ANY minor even 17 year olds should not be allowed to play it, or other violent games. if game violence should be illegal then so should MOST movies, news channels, cartoons, and newspapers and so on, because there is violence even there, games are fictional where as the violence on the news is real. video game violence dont make people violent, it is the person who does the violence that is the problem because they should know that violence outside of games, or other forms of entertainment is just plain wrong. it is just common sense that when u run someone over or shoot someone till they die, or beat the crap out of someone in a game, or if it happens in a movie or seen on the news, that u DONT do it in the real world and mimic it. its like that old saying about guns, guns dont kill people, people kill people. a gun is useless without a human finger to pull the trigger. hope this is somewhat helpful and this IS my honest opinion about violence in games, and movies and so on.

No, simply because making violent video games illigal would be the same as making voilent movies illiegal, which would never happen. Getting rid of violent video games would make a multi-million dollar industry lose a large percentage of its market and many people would lose thier job. Violent video games are also a great way to get rid of your stress and anger without actually hurting real people.

I think that the rating system that is in video games is working...
if the rating system holds up the way it SHOULD BE...then the violent games should be out of the hands of children, who naturally shouldnt be seeing that sort of thing...
HOWEVER...
i ask the people who oppose violen video game creation, Do you oppose violent movies with an R rating? or most (if not all) rap music that speaks of killing and whatnot?
it seems that people who dont PLAY violent games oppose them...would you oppose movies if you didnt watch them?
((most of these points and questions come fom an essay IVE written in my college writing class...and i recieved an A on the paper...so they all sem valid points in an essay...))
I HOPE THIS HELPS!

No, because I'm a mature adult and I like to play games like GTA.
I work in a hospital saving lives all day and a very gentle person by nature. Playing violent games doesn't make me a maniac.
Parents should monitor what their kids play with vs taking things away from people.

I think violent video games shouldn't be illegal because people have there on mind. A video game cant make someone do something. But I think violent video games shouldn't be sold to adolescent children because they cant think for themselves yet.

nicely i imagine violent video games must be allowed as long as dad and mom are notified about what contents are contained in the video games intimately and the dad and mom must be able to verify for the little ones.
