I just had my 38 wk checkup with a new doctor (he has 30 yrs exp) He is only there to cover for the 2 doctors that retired last month, and to cover the time until the new doctors start. Well, he written on my walking papers that im 60% effaced but cervix is closed. It was 50% effaced and 1.5 cms last week. Can this happen? I didnt notice this til i got home and looked at my papers. He was a lil odd anyways and i did have him for an appt next week but changed it to a doctor i already liked.

Just wanna know if that is possible?

yes that can happen. the human body is a misterious thing. It can do what ever it feels it needs to do to protect its self. just like when a baby in ur belly dies, ur body most of the time automatically aborts it and that is called a miscarriage. ur body can do anything. some woman need that area stitched because it opens to soon. just let it do what it needs and when the time comes when u are about to have the baby it will do what it needs for u to do that. good luck and GOD BLESS. On the doc issue. i wouldnt go to anyone i didnt feel right with either so i agree with ur move to change to another

I used to be brought about with all 3 of my youngsters (with #three I used to be dilated to two at 36 weeks and nonetheless needed to be brought about!) . My neighbor had a scheduled induction and went into hard work overdue the night time earlier than. It's tough to mention, however well success and congratulations!

yes the cervix can open and close also depending on who checks they might give you a diffrent number. i was 3cm with my last baby at 35 weeks then 1 cm at 36 weeks then the day i went to be indused i was 2.5 every time i was checked by the same doctor.

Yes, because every doctors hands are different so they measure differently. When I was pregnant, I went to a clinic that had like 4 doctors and everytime I went, each one told me something different. So don't worry about it, just know that you are progressing, somewhat. Good Luck!

I don't think that is possible although I have 3 main dr at the ob/gyn that I go to and depending on who I see, I'm either 1com or 2cm or somewhere in between, I think it is just (this sounds gross) how far they put there finger up and how long/short their fingers are if you know what I mean!
