i dont joseph this is a mountainous subject that i have researched this 2 minute clip sums it up quite well in a few mins for people that have not got a clue like you.

I think to answer your question we all need to go back past the World trade center attacks and back to 1996. The time when the President of the US was Bill Clinton. During his second term of office, Clinton's foreign policy was mainly an isolationist one. Clinton was in favour of having the middle east conflict being resolved. (Camp David summit). America was on the brink of pulling back from it's role as the World's Policeman. Clinton was in favour of coming away from unilateral intervention and instead favoured UN backed conflict resolution.

At this tine the Neo-conservative were but a small organisation with no real power. Bush took office in 2001 and was only in office nine months prior to the World trade attacks, which if one looks at the chronology of events is a natural culmination of events from the attacks in Yemen on US navy ships, to the earlier attempt on the WTC in 1993. If as the conspiracy theorist suggest it was an inside attack then the Neo-conservative with nine months of planning are very efficient ruthless and there is no hope for the rest of us. I think however much people would like to assume it is a conspiracy the truth (as I see it) is that this occurred very conveniently at the time when the Neo-conservative where on the crest of a wave (just having been placed in positions of real power). They used the natural anger, hurt and desire for revenge of the American people in a cynical manner to conduct their New world order experiment.

I believe that we need to take another look at the war in Iraq and remember that it is not part of the "War on terror". The "War on Terror" prime objective was the removal of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and the destruction of the Al Qaeda network, including bases in Somalia. The charges laid at Saddam Hussein's door was that he had weapons of mass destruction and he was intending on using them to destabilise the region. Iraq prior to the American led invasion did not house Al Qaeda members as I am sure you're aware Saddam Hussein was a secularist and Al Qaeda desire a single Islamic state stretching across the globe (very unlikely to collaborate). The war on Iraq and the War on Terror are two separate conflicts that have been tied together by the Neo-conservative, the mass media and unfortunately a gullible public.

In conclusion, the War on terror is a laudable aim, if it brings stability to the whole of the world and will address fundamentally questions such as inequality of resources. The war on Iraq, is a misguided Imperial adventure, to try and secure the last dwindling stocks of oil.

PS To the chap that said, it's just jealousy of the US, there is probably an element of truth in that. The US acts like the Imperial power it is; brash and arrogant. Just like the Romans or the British Empire. The only hope is the US can learn form history and try not to repeat the mistakes of the past, they can either be a force for good or not, it is in America's hands. Remember all Empires fade away.

A better reason is all the dead Americans resulted from the two airline attacks in NYC and the Pentagon commited by them.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists[2] affiliated with al-Qaeda[3] hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a trained pilot. The hijackers crashed two of the airliners (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (1 WTC and 2 WTC), resulting in the collapse of both buildings soon afterward. A nearby church and the rest of the World Trade Center complex's 7 buildings were also destroyed or damaged beyond repair. A third airliner (American Airlines Flight 77) was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft (United Airlines Flight 93) attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers; that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In addition to the 19 hijackers, 2,973 people died; another 24 are missing and presumed dead.

There were 2,973 fatalities: 246 on the four planes (no one on board any of the hijacked aircraft survived[20]), 2,602 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon.[21] Among the fatalities were 343 New York City Fire Department firefighters, 23 New York City Police Department officers, and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers.[22] An additional 24 people remain listed as missing.[14]

World Trade Center - 1366 people died who were at or above the floors of impact in the North Tower (1 WTC); according to the Commission Report, hundreds were killed instantly by the impact while the rest were trapped and died after the tower collapsed.[23]

As many as 600 people were killed instantly or trapped at or above the floors of impact in the South Tower (2 WTC). Only about 18 managed to escape in time from above the impact zone and out of the South Tower before it collapsed.

An estimated 200 people jumped to their deaths from the burning towers (as depicted in the photograph "The Falling Man"), landing on the streets and rooftops of adjacent buildings hundreds of feet below.[24] To witnesses watching, a few of the people falling from the towers seemed to have stumbled out of broken windows.[25] Some of the occupants of each tower above its point of impact made their way upward toward the roof in hope of helicopter rescue, however; no rescue plan existed for such an eventuality, the roof access doors were locked and thick smoke and intense heat would have prevented rescue helicopters from landing.[26]

The average age of all the dead in New York City was 40.

The dead included 8 children: 5 on American 77 ranging in age from 3 to 11, 3 on United 175 ages 2, 3, and 4.[28] The youngest victim was a 2 year-old child on Flight 175, the oldest an 82 year-old passenger on Flight 11. In the buildings, the youngest victim was 17 and the oldest was 79.[29]
