Considering your physical size and Interstate highway travel question I would recommend a slightly bigger bike, something in the 1200cc and up category, such as the Honda 1300 vtx

I agree with Rides365.
I commute on highways with a 700 and have commuted highways with 1100's. I've also ridden the Nomad 1500 as my father in law owns one.
How big do you really need for a highway ride? Factors are windshield and fairings and fairing extensions. 900 - 1500.. they will both easily do 65-80 mph without breaking a sweat.. my 700 can as well.
If your talking about going for super long rides 500-1000 miles or more. The things you should be looking for are fairings or at least a windshield, seat, and foot rests (highway pegs) to allow you to stretch your legs out and perhaps even a cruise control tab to allow you to give your right hand a break.
BTW, my 700 is an 84 Vulcan and it's fine on the highways.

Not being a smart ***, but been riding for 35 years. If you need to ask what is right for you to ride, go back and get alot more training and experience. The fact you don't know if a 900 is big enough is an indication you shouldn't get anything BIGGER than that until you are experienced enough to know what is there to ride. I'm not being critical in any way, but in total, I've spent almost 6 years not being able to walk from others hitting me, and only time and experience working through bigger bikes will give you what safety you'll have out there...most riders who die have less than 20,00 miles experience on the road, and unfamiliarity with a bike too big is an overwhelming factor in most of these cases. Every state has chapters of motorcycle safety institute, and the instructors of any would be happy to help advise you on a bike to fit your needs, experience, and ability. Be safe, and keep the tank pointing up...

It depends on where your height is, in your legs or in your torso. I'm 6'3" and weigh 280 but my its my torso that makes me tall. I went to a BMW R1100RT (its a 2000, bought it new) because of the excellent wind protection at speed. You need a windscreen if you plan on extended trips of more than 50 miles but you also need to make sure that are not folded up. I wouldn't ride to far on a bike that weighs less than 600 pounds.
Hope this helps

It would work, but honestly you'd be happier with a larger bike. The 1500's are great bikes, I love my VN1500 Nomad.
