I don't, I'm ashamed to say. Wish I did, but don't. I want people to answer that feel the same way. If you believe, you're no help to me. Don't tell me to do things to try and believe, I'm really comfortable with how I feel. I live in the South, Bible Belt,so if there are more like me, I'm sure they keep their mouth shut. Heaven and Hell, seem so absurd to me. You die, and that's it. If I couldn't look and feel and love only who I want, I would rather it be over. Boy, I could go on and on. I'm not a kid, I'm 54, female.

to be honest, I'm not sure if I believe in THE God. I think I believe in something. I am just not sure what it is. Life seems too complex to be designed by one being.
I think the point of life is to just look around and love and enjoy everything around you. Too many people send their lives worry about what will happen when they die, that they don't get a chance to see the beauty of being alive.
And I too am weary of the ideas of Heaven and Hell, Purgatory and the afterlife. If you ask me I think Purgatory must be something like driving the whole length of I-95 on a donut going no more than 40 miles an hour.
But to each their own. Beliefs are just that Beliefs. Not fact - otherwise they would be called truths.
And you shouldn't be ashamed that you are not a believer. You should be proud that you have made a choice for yourself, and have been brave enough to walk an alternative path. Seeing where your from, I'd image that must not have been an easy thing to do. : )

Sandi, you say you feel "ashamed to say" that you don't believe in God, and "Wish I did, but don't." But then you say "I'm really comfortable with how I feel." That seems like a contradiction to me.
I think you need to ask yourself if you really are comfortable or not. And if the answer is no, then you need to ask yourself why?
Why are you so sure that "You die, and that's it." You do not know for sure if this is true.
Perhaps some soul searching is in order.

How can we really believe in god?
I mean if god is real then he would be evil, read the book of Job.
In job god kills and make a man suffer to prove a point.
And would you as the greatest "THING" ever really need people to praise you?
Do you really think if you where the true "GOD" would you be that insecure?
not to mention would you give your child only a book and blind faith in which to guild his life.??

No ,and I am not ashamed to say .
I am actually proud to say that i`m intelligent enough not to pretend in something that is not there .
Most people are guilted into believing .If they admit they don`t believe ,they`re shunned by the majority of religious people.
I don`t want to be accepted for what i believe .I want to be aceppted for who I am !

Nope.
I decided early on that I didn't believe, and haven't felt the need to since that time. I'm rather comfortable with it now, 40 yrs later.

Why ask a question and then only want answers from people who will agree with you, that's pathetic. I do believe and thinking as you do when you die that will be it.

Nope, don't believe in God. Never did. If you live in the South, you'd be better off keeping it to yourself.

um, ok well, i first of all dont think you should be ashamed: why do you let it bother you so much....everybody has the right to their own opinion.
what i dont understand is that if you are comfortable with how you feel, why are you ashamed to say it.

Well I do, but not in the ordinary sense. I believe he is there, but he doesnt even know we exist. (The universe had to come from somewhere and whatever reaction, force or being made it is my god). Really this is deism, but not the full sense of one.
