I do currently pump, but when I pump, I am not able to get enough bottles. I have plenty supply when nursing, just pumping comes up short.

I work 9 hours a day so I pump 3 times a day and usually only get about 3 oz each time.

My daughter is 7 months old. I just wanted to know if there is a certain kind that brest fed babies prefer since brestmilk is not as heavy as formula.

Every baby is different when it comes to formula, we had to try several different ones all recommended by our pediatrician. I would ask your pediatrician, they are likely to give you free samples to try!!! ( = It gets costly when they don't work!!
Ask if they don't offer because they have them!!

I used an organic one from the health food store when we started supplementing around 10 months. I don't remember the name, but there are not a lot of organic choices.

Edit: Have you considered pumping? If it's only enough to supplement when you are not home to nurse, it isn't very complicated.

Edit again: It was this one http://www.naturesone.com/index.php and actually I think it was the toddler one and we didn't start until 12 months when I went back to work.

I agree that you should talk to your pediatrician, they can even give you a lot of free samples.

Edit (yeah, again): Based on your add'l info, I'd definately try to get a variety of samples from the pediatrician because none of them will taste as good to her as your milk so you might have to do some trial testing. I still recommend the organic line I mentioned above. If you are pumping some then maybe you can add an ounce of breastmilk that you pumped to the formula, if that isn't too complicated, to help get her to accept it. Good luck!

You would need to use a formula that has DHA and ARA - the nutrients from breastmilk. You may have to try out a few formulas before you find the right one for your baby. Some babies spit up a lot on formulas that don't agree with their tummy. Similac and Enfamil are the best brands of formula, they do have various types though (regular, soy, organic, etc.)

I supplemented with Nestle Good Start for a couple of months because that was what they gave him as a supplement in the hospital. I have since switched over to Target brand baby formula, which is great because it's way cheaper and he actually likes it better too.

Use a formula with iron. If your baby doesn't have any health problems then they should be able to take normal formula with iron in it. I personally nursed but would supplement for when my husband had her I would just use generic Sams Club formula(which was just the same as Enfamil, but alot cheaper) she tolerated it well and had no problems.

Have you considered pumping your breastmilk? If it's a matter of occasionally being away from your child, you can pump and feed the baby your breastmilk when you're gone.

If it's a matter of "low supply" or something like that, try talking to a lactation consultant, Le Leche League (www.llli.org) or kellymom.com. They can help you with those sort of issues.

hi-that is something you need to talk to your babys doctor about.
you should only use the formula that the doctor suggests. there are all different formulas out there for different things (extra iron, soy, etc) Only your doctor will know what your baby needs
