Won't come up since Shaq is set to return later this month so he'll be healthy by the all star game unless he decides to sit out of it
the best choice for a replacement is Dwight Howard who is the future big man of this league and 2nd behind Shaq in votes

Taking a look a the East candidates at center, here is a list of possibilities in the order I would have them be All Stars (whether replacing Shaq or by selection):
Dwight Howard
Jermaine O'Neal
Emeka Okafor
Ben Wallace
Chris Bosh
These are the only real choices as a backup. All 5 deserve a spot and Howard and O'Neal will probably get selected either way. With that said, I would choose Okafor, who has had a fantastic season thus far.
As far as Josh Howard goes he has played like an All Star but I doubt he will be one. Look at the list of forwards in the West:
Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Shawn Marion
Dirk Nowitzki
Elton Brand
Carmelo Anthony
Tracy McGrady
Carlos Boozer
Zach Randolph
He would most likely have to be in the top 5 of this list to make the All Star team, which he has yet to do in this season or his career.

I think Dwight Howard or Ben Wallace. Jermaine O'neal plays power forward I think. Those Three are pretty much a good replacement for Shaq. Chris Bosh can be the third center or forward in the all star like last year, but it looks like theres someone whose going to be snubbed this year mainly because theres so many great players. Especially in the West

It should absolutely be Dwight Howard. He is the leading rebounder in the NBA and he should for sure be there. Shaq shouldn't even be voted in...it's obviously people voting who do not know what is going on in basketball. The Magic were lobbying the NBA that Howard should be allowed in as a PF as he plays that position as well, but the NBA said 'nope'...he's a center...Howard should be at the game without a doubt.

Dwight Howard of course. People shoudn't even be voting for Shaq. He's done nothing this year! This year is Dwight Howard's year. Back to back 20 20 games is allstar starter material.

Well first of all, Shaq won't be on the ballot due to injury, so I'm going with Dwight Howard.
