Yes, it is okay to dye your horse's tail. We used to have a solid black horse and when we first got him, his tail was faded from the sun and looked kind of brownish so we would dye it black every once in a while until the sun damage went away. So, yes it is okay to dye you horse's tail but make he/she doesn't have an allergic reaction to it or anything like that and make sure to read the bottle and make sure there is nothing harmful in it. I hope this helps, good luck!

Show horses often have their tails dyed or their tails extended for flare in the arena.
As long as you get a brand that is formulated for horses, and follow the instructions it is safe.
But if your horse isn't a show animal, it is somewhat pointless because to keep a tail looking good, healthy, and full requires a lot of work.

the horse's mane and tail are designed with a waxy outside layer. a dye could be harmful to this watertight seal, and greatly damage the horse's tail. the waxy coat may also keep the dye from penetrating the follicle. i would not recommend it....use a fake tail or spray-on stuff......although i wouldn't do anything

I've seen a dun (buckskin) mare whose owner would dye her tial black for shows. Naturally it had light colored streaks in it, they thought it didn't look as nice. I've also seen a white Arab that the kids would dye for fun calss every year. Once they colored him blue and went as smurfs, the next year they turned him green but I don't remember what for. But I agree there's no real point to just dying it especially if it's dark because the color won't really show up.
