New Orleans---Big Flood...Lots of water...difficult to get to.

They are soooo different.

Why is it that the weather stations gave up to 5 days warning, the federal government declared New Orleans a disaster zone 2 days in advance, the mayor of New Orleans warned people to leave, but so many died anyway?
When you elect democrats to office, you get politicians who teach you to rely on the government instead of yourself, and what you get is an entire population that is helpless without the government.
(In case you didn't know this, the rescue efforts in New Orleans were far more extensive than in Malibu, at far greater cost, and Malibu got far less warning than New Orleans.)

Because the democratic leaders of Louisiana and New Orleans failed. There was three days notice and hundreds of buses and other forms transportation left to sit. Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco failed their voting base just to save themselves. New Orleans is a city built at sea level a hard summer thunderstoms causes flooding. There is no comparasion

Umm one city compared to how many hundreds of miles of coast line? You know there was more than one area hit during that hurricane right? You also know that out of all the crap the people on the coast had ot deal with we only hear about poor New Orleans. When in fact they had 400 busses left to be flooded, that could have been used to get people out. Of course being a Democrat mayor and Governor they get a pass for their incompetence.
A bit of prespective please.

Because the roads into New Orleans were either destroyed or clogged with broken down vehicles. It's a lot easier to respond to 7 fires, especially if you house is still standing.

Are you kidding? To compare a hurricane that caused thousands of square miles of damage to a small brush fire that burned right next to a major highway.
The fire in Malibu was not even a very big one compared to most in Southern California. The hurrricane damage stretched for hundreds of miles.

No, what's really disgusting is how people keep ignoring the fact that the National Guard, Coast Guard and others WERE rescuing as many people as they could, and would rather spew all these trumped-up racial conspiracy accusations against the Government.

Oh please, enough already with the Katrina crap...
The federal government isn't responsible, they told Louisiana governor to call for evacuations and neither she or the mayor saw fit to order evacuations until far too late...also people should start being accountable for their own actions and welfare... you libs can't have it both ways were you want the government to take responsibility on this but not take responsibility for the country's security against terrorists... what a bunch of hypocritical BS
I certainly feel sorry for the people of New Orleans, but after almost 1 1/2 years I'm tired of BS like this question...

Compare the amount of money spent in Iraq, with the amount for Katrina victims, the priorities are just a little indefensible.
