1 month after I told my employer I was pregnant I started to be single out. I was given tighter deadlines than my peers, more responsibility and treated harshly. I'm now 4 1/2 months pregnant, I'm showing and now they fired me. The reason that they gave me was that it just wasn't working out. Are the any steps I should take?

Did u have good reviews before that.. All employees have to be reviewed on a regular basis. Have u ever been written up for anything.. If they have had no problems with u than u have a good lawsuit. Hire an attorney and sue away..

Based on the facts that you have stated it certainly seems as though you have a claim for wrongful termination and that your employer has violated several state and federal statutes. Speak with an attorney who specifically does employment law. Have you gotten another job? Did you lose health benefits? If you got another job right away, you will not be able to claim as much money from the employer. Same if you did not lose health benefits. It still would be worth exploring with an employment lawyer. It does not matter that the employer did not admit that they fired you because you are pregnant (most employers will use some other excuse).

Depends on what State you're in. California is what is called an "at will" state. This means that an employer can fire you at will and doesn't even have to give a reason. Of course, you cannot be fired because of race, sexual orientation, or religious background. Anything other than that though, an employer in California can fire you without even giving a reason. I don't know how it is in other states, but that's how it is in California.

If you can prove it then go for it , get a layer. There are discriminatory laws on this. As far as a 3 mo probation period you were past it and the reason he gave was not acceptable, you can apply for unemployment!

Talk to an attorney, and make sure you can document some of these things you said, and seek unemployment, so you can still have some sort of income, but don't let them get away with this. Good Luck.

File a complaint with the E.E.O.C. against your former employer for discrimination and firing you illegally . From what you are saying here it sounds as if you have a good case.

You have no rights unless they told you they specifically fired you due to your pregnancy. You can fight under your suspicions but it will be hard to get anything. You can claim unemployment.
