Because they are unsure of their own sexuality and are scared of being 'turned gay' by the horrible gay monster. Its completely ridiculous and ignorant.

I think the biggest influence is ignorance - not that they're stupid, but they've just never had an opportunity to learn that gay, lesbian and bisexual people are just regular people. We hear myths and misinformation all the time, from many sources, and without anyone to correct these we don't hear the truth. We hear that gay men always want sex, that they'll try to "convert" straight people, or try to molest them, or hit on them - these are NOT TRUE. Sometimes people develop an irrational fear because they think gay people are a threat, or they're worried they're 'giving off gay vibes' and other people will think they're gay. It really might just come down to issues around insecurity - of being perceived as gay (and also perceiving that as a bad thing).
Although I can't say nobody of the same gender's ever going to hit on a straight person - there's no way of telling someone else's sexual orientation unless they tell you. Straight people hit on gay people all the time because they assume they're straight. It's going to happen the other way around, because gay, lesbian and bisexual people are looking for the same things straight people are looking for - a relationship, someone to spend time with, to possibly share their lives with. But if the straight person says 'no thanks, I'm straight' or just 'no', then the gay person's going to drop it.
If they don't, it's not because they're gay, it's because they're a jerk - and we all know there are gay and straight jerks who don't take no for an answer.
That aside, I'd chalk it up to an irrational fear or gay people, or being perceived as gay, fueled by misinformation and myths we hear in the media and from those around us. Plus, it's a bit of an ego thing - who assumes they're so damn hot that gay people just HAVE to make a move? Puh-lease.

Even Funnier is the fact that over 90% of the guys that seem to think a Gay guy would want to hit on them are so freaking ugly no one in their right mind would touch them......straight or gay.

I think that's a stereotype. I'm straight and I have never thought any of my gay friends what to "convert" my sexual orientation. I think anyone with any kind of self-confidence just respects the sexual orientation of others, no matter what it might be. As long as someone isn't hurting and/or victimizing others, we just need to accept the sexual orientation of others.

Because, y'know, a gay guy will do anything with a Y chromosome, and a lesbian ...oh, yeah, that's right, lesbians don't exist / don't matter. So, obviously, they want to do me. And, so, obviously they want to turn me gay so they can do me.
