Motivation is encouraging people, while Manipulation is using people for one's hidden motive.

Manipulation is always coercive in nature. Motivation may also be used to get someone to do something that they wouldn't do without incentive but it is generally upfront even in those cases.

motivation is when YOU are motivated, or want to do something. manipulation is when SOMEONE ELSE manipulates, or tricks you doing into something.
