This is a homework question, isn't it?

Judicial - Supreme Court
Legislative - Congress
Executive - President

Their functions are pretty obvious. ESPECIALLY if you do your homework.

What it boils down to is that our founding fathers did not want a single man having too much power in our government, like you would under the monarchies of the time. They wanted to ensure that there was an adequate system of checks and balances so that no one part of government becomes too powerful through a system of checks and balances. We have a legislative branch that writes and passes laws, an executive that ratifies and enforces the laws, and a judicial branch that answers any questions about the fairness or implementation of the law.

The three branches of U.S. Government are:

1. Executive: This branch enforces the laws.
2. Legislative: This branch makes the laws (e.g. Congress)
3 Judicial: This branch interprets the laws (e.g. Court System)

I see that in effect your answers are given so please allow me to clarify requirements!
Judicial-a Lawyer who specialized in something such as Constitutional law-you know like a Barrack Obasama!

Legislative-People who understand issues and have things that they feel need to be implemented-this group is wide open, but due to the extreme nit-picking and tedious detail that often times involves legal descriptions and constraints, Lawyers are strong!

Executive-People that are used to analyzing data, leading, being responsible for decision making and bearing said responsibilities, people that are aware of the full extent throughout the economic and business world of any changes or decisions made, and as the commander in chief, a strong knowledge of world events, military and intelligence, and diplomacy-Historically, a job for competent Businessmen and Generals!

And great God in Heaven, do I wish people wold learn these and stop trying to turn these positions and the contestants into popularity contests!

BTW-to all those who honestly feel Reagan was an "Actor", he was head of SAC and a major factor in propaganda promotions during World War II. He was an actor, like Bill Clinton was a Jazz Musician!

Founding Mommy gave birth to a set of triplets - a set of girls. She named the girls Lisa, Ella, and Julia. Founding Mommy also decided that she would mandate what careers her daughters were to pursue when they grew up. (Mommy's a control freak who doesn't like to allow people to choose their own goals in life.)
Mommy decided that Lisa would grow up to be a writer -- Lisa's job was to write laws. Mommy decided that Ella would grow up to be a police officer -- Ella's job was to enforce laws. And Mommy decided that Julia would grow up to be a lawyer -- Julia's job was to interpret laws.

Lisa -- writer -- legislature who writes laws.
Ella -- police officer -- executive who enforces laws.
Julia -- lawyer -- judge who interprets laws.
