Is there a certain age you have to be to buy Standard monophasic birth control pills? Do you have to get a perscription or can you buy it at a pharmacy or something?

Most Dr.s will need to see you in the office and have time to exam you to make sure everything is normal before giving you a prescription for birth control. My Dr. also has made me take and in office pregnancy test before starting me on birth control. It is a good idea on there part. If you talk to your Dr. they can also give you any other information that you would need. I don't know how old you are, i am going to assume that you are under 18. Please keep in mind that Birth control pills do not keep you from getting STDs and if you don't take them the right way you might end up pregnant anyways. I am not going to tell you not to have sex.... I was sexually active at 17 1/2 years old. But I was smart enough not to get pregnant until we were married and out of college at 25. Its a lot harder to shoot for the stars when you are carrying a diaper bag.

You need a perscription from a doctor. Before you get birth control you need a physical and gynecological exam. You should call your local Planned Parenthood, Womancare center, or Health Department. They will be happy to discuss confidentiality and birth control options with you. The exam fee and contraceptives are usually priced by a sliding scale based on your income (pills usually average $10.00/month). Whether you are old enough or not depends on the state that you live in. Some states allow minors to get birth control without parental permission, others do not. Some states say they will not allow minors to get birth control without parental permission unless the physician feels that are health risks involved in denying the contraception. It is best to call your local women's healthcare agency and see what their customary practice is.

There is no minimum age for birth control pills. You'll just need a prescription. Many clinics will have a cheap pap smear available. Just remember, if needed, to ask for a birth control pill which has a generic.
Birth control pills will not become OTC or BTC because of the estrogen in them.

You have to see a doctor to get a prescription, you can't just buy it over the counter. I'm not sure if there is a minimum age, as it is often used to control irregular periods.

There are no birth control pills over the counter yet, if there were, there would be more and more younger people having sex.

Go to planned parenthood office and get them free. They will also do an exam to make sure you haven't any other problems and also get a papaloma virus shot so you dont get the pap virus which causes cervical cancer.
