I'm 17, am I too old to start learning violin? How far will I get? Can I ever be a professional? Sure, the more you practice, the better you'll get, but tell me one famous player who started late? I find it beautiful but believe i have no chance!

You can go as far as your talent and hard work will take you. Everyone has their own voice in music.. the same 12 notes.. just different ways to approach the music. If your serious, find a good instructor. I'm sure your city or a neighboring city might have an orchestra with some very good players. They might teach or lead you in the right direction. I played various styles of music and a guy we played bluegrass with was learning "fiddle" at about 25 yrs. old. He is now 52 and has taught hundreds of students. His fiddle playing is more indepth now and he plays all types of music, not just country. You can do it! Make a call today!

Well if you keep thinking that you have no chance you won't so think positive. I started violin 4th grade (I'm now in 11th just to let you know) and have learned many other instruments since. It is truly beautiful. Who says you're to old? If you have the heart for it go for it. And when you become super great other semi-older kids can look up to you. What have you got to lose?

I have played the violin for several years and I have also taught several students. It is true that it is significantly easier to begin as a child and I have seen a big difference in my students with just an age difference of several years. However I have also seen a couple of very talented students excel with hard work. If you want it badly enough I would say go for it and you will not regret it. If you get discouraged just think about how worth it it will be when you can play your favorite song.

no one is to old! You can become a professional whenever your good enough! I do dance, and think most of the time i should not join one certain dance because i think i might be to old to become a professional so soon. But I do stuff that i want to try and everything turns out great! I am already a great hip hop dancer!
