The general rule of thumb is, 1 inch of fish for every gallon of water. Mollies can get to be around an inch but tetras and guppies are pretty tiny. Go from there. Just be sure not to overstock your tank. It stresses out the fish.

Mollies grow pretty big. No more fish in that tank unless you get rid of the mollies. Mollies really actually get too big for a 10 gallon but if you do water changes every 4-5 days instead of the standard once a week, you should be fine. They still won't have enough swimming space so watch for aggression.

You people have got to be kidding! Mollies only grow to 1 inch!? Have you guys ever read anything in your life. Type in molly maximum size in ANY search engine and I guerantee you that you will find that 1 inch is way smaller than their maximum size.

Mollies usually grow to 4-5 inches long, sometimes can get to 6 inches long. And if they are not ballon mollies they will grow to about as big around as 3-4 sharpies put together. Too big for a 10 gallon tank.

Unfortunatly you got a lot of bad answers. I suggest you find a fish forum(there is one on my site) for better information. Yahoo is full of a bunch of morons who don't research anything before trying to give advice, and is unfortunatly a very bad source of fish information with the exception of a select few peopl who do give good answers.

I agree with a few answers on here about the size of fish per gallon. I was always told that you should plan to buy a tank that will be sufficient for 1 gallon for every 1 inch of max size/adult fish, guppies usually grow to 2 inches and i have seen neons that have grown to that size as well. Alot of it has to do with the size of the tank. I'm sure you've heard the saying that the size of your fish will vary depending on the size of your tank. For example, a guppy in a 50 gal tank will most likely grow larger and faster than the same fish in a 10 gal tank. I bought a plecostamus for a 10 gal tank and it initially grew to about 5 inches. I eventually bought a 50 gallon tank and after that it had quickly grown to over a foot long, about 14 inches! Diet also helps control size as well. If you feed them nothing but flake food, they will not grow as fast as if you were to feed them bloodworms, brine shrimp, beefheart... Not sure if you've ever seen or heard of them but i had bought an african brown knifefish(sort of looks like an eel almost) when it was only about 3 inches long. But after a year it is just under 2 feet long now, my point being that fish has a max adult size of 40 inches, so had i put it in a 10 gal tank, it would have quickly became overcrowded with only 1 fish in it!. Well i hope this bit of information was helpful to you so that not only you but your fish will be happy.

They are fine. A few of each will be ok. Try to remember what they are. You need a couple bottom feeders like catfish or snake fish or picastromis (sorry about the spelling). Look at the way their mouth goes. Mouths that are at the bottom for the most part means they will stay to the bottom. Mollies mouth is in the middle and they like to stay in the middle most of the time. I also like an angel or the silver dollar fish in my tank but they are a little more aggressive so you may not want them in there with the smaller tetras. I always enjoyed the red velvet swords too. Remember to have some live plants in the bottom for the babies to hide. Depending on how many fish you have and size tank and your feeding them will determine what size they will grow. Less is more because they all grow. Mollies and guppies have babies alot of babies. Good luck.

If your mollies breed you'll either have to sell them or get a bigger tank. You can fit 4 small schooling fish like neon tetras in a gallon of water. There are some fish like bettas that can live in a gallon of water as well.

I heard that if the fish is small 1 gallon per fish and bigger is 2-5gallon. But if its guppies you could probably get 5-7 more.

I would get 3 neons and 3 guppies, plus 2 cory cats or 1 otoclunis and butterfly loach.

If you want your fish to get bigger, than experts say you should have one fish per ten gallons. but since you're dealing with small fish, one fish per gallon ought to be sufficient. Just make sure the fish don't eat each other...
