And most of the others were sworn in on a book which condones slavery, bigamy, and war crimes, and has many murderers for heros. Hmmm, the Republicans did choose Trent Lott as minority whip. Maybe there is something in this after all!

Cite me the verse of the Koran that says that MY representative (Rep. Ellison from MN) can lie to Jews, Christians, and Infidels?
(And there aren't despicable verses in the Bible too, about burning heathens' children? Does that make all Christians sworn to infanticide in Third World countries?)
Remember, a Congressperson is not sworn to tell the truth, but is rather sworn to uphold and defend the constitution. If Representatives were required to swear to tell the truth all the time, they'd ALL be in prison! This is Congress!!!!

Quite frankly, this country (USA) was founded on the freedom of religion. If he wants to swear on the Koran, then he may do so. Also, is lying by a muslim different than lying by any other politician???

Most Christian politicians get sworn in with a Bible, but that doesn't seem to slow them down one bit. It doesn't matter to me what book they made their oath on, as long as they are true to their country. Which, given that they are all politicians, is unlikely.
